Preparation-Prior to the Move | ||
| Ask friends, your real estate agent, family, co-wokers, and neighbors if they have any recommendations for a reputable moving company. |
| Check out any recommendations or companies you are interested in with the Better Business Bureau and for an interstate move check to make sure the mover is registered with FMCSA and obtain their USDOT number. |
| Obtain estimates from at least three companies. Make sure the estimates include price and a list of the services included in the price. Find out all necessary details such as how and when pickup and delivery will occur the day of the move. Check with the company to ensure they are properly and adequately insured. |
| Pick the company you will use and review and sign the contract. Be sure you are given a copy of the signed contract. |
| Talk with your insurance company to get your belongings insured if necessary. |
| Be sure you have all the proper contact information for the company in case you need to contact them further with any questions or concerns. |
| Be sure that all boxes are clearly labeled with the location of the room the movers will be moving them to in your new home. (Ex. living room, kitchen, bedroom 1, etc) |

| Make a note of any damages you notice. |
